History

This is a set two, white Toronto Blue Jays Ernie Whitt game-used jersey from 1989.

Ernie Whitt played for the Toronto Blue Jays from 1977-1978 and 1980-1989. After his playing career, Whitt served as both the Blue Jays' bench coach and first base coach, beginning in 2005. Whitt also managed Team Canada in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens; the World Baseball Classic in 2006, 2009, 2013, and 2017; and the Pan Am games in 2011 and 2015.

Description

This is a white polyester button down jersey with blue lettering embroidered on the front and back. The embroidery on the front reads "Blue Jays", with the Toronto Blue Jays logo, circa 1977 embroidered under the word Jays, aligned to the right. There are seven clear buttons down the front placket. The ends of the sleeves have one light blue, one white, and one dark blue stripe around them. The collar has a "Wilson" tag and a patch with the numbers: "12 89 2", indicating the player number, the year, and the uniform set. The numbers are sewn onto the patch in dark blue thread. The reverse has "Whitt" and "12" in the centre in dark blue embroidery.

Un chandail blanc à boutons, fabriqué en polyester. À l’avant du chandail, on trouve un appliqué bleu avec le mot « Blue Jays » et le logo des Blues Jays de Toronto de 1977 à 1997. Il y a sept boutons transparents sur la platte. Les manches ont des rayures bleu foncé, bleu clair et blanches. L’intérieur du col contient une étiquette de « Wilson » et un petit écusson avec les numéros « 12 89 2 » brodé en bleu foncé, ce qui indique le numéro du joueur, l’année et le nombre de l’uniforme dans la collection de l'année. À l’arrière du chandail, on trouve un appliqué avec le nom « Whitt » et le numéro « 12 » brodé en bleu foncé.
