History |
A.J. Reach Co. was established in 1865 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was one of the first glove manufacturers in the United States. The Reach factory in Brantford, Ontario produced a wide line of baseball gloves and other sports equipment. It later merged with Spalding in 1927. This model of the Claw was likely made between the 1930s and the 1940s. |

Description |
This is a Reach Model 258T using Patent #2,281,315. This glove was likely made in the A.G. Spalding/Reach Factory in Brantford, Ontario. The glove features a "Trap Eze" strap on the top of the web (part of Patent #2, 995, 756.) This style was known as the "Claw Design" Trapper. The glove has three sections stitched together with leather string. The glove has an open back laced together. One would put their thumb in the left finger of the glove, and the remainder of their finger in the right finger of the glove - purposely leaving the center finger empty. |

Un gant de baseball, fabriqué par Reach. Il est le modèle 258T sous le brevet #2,281,315. Ce gant a été probablement fabriqué à Brantford, Ontario, à l’usine d’A.G. Spalding/Reach. Il y a un ruban « Trap Eze » (attraper facilement) en haut du panier. Ce style est appelé « Claw Design Trapper » (un trappeur griffe). Ce gant a trois parties qui sont cousues aux cordons de cuir. L’arrière est ouvert, lacé aux dentelles. On pouvait mettre le pouce dans le doigt du gant et les autres doigts dans l’autre ouverture à droite. L'ouverture au centre est délibérément vide. |
