History

This is a pair of Chatham Coloured All-Stars commemorative pants, worn by the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Toronto Blue Jays commemorated the Chatham Coloured All-Stars team by wearing commemorative uniforms in 2001 and 2002 for a few games. The Chatham Coloured All-Stars played in the 1930s and won the OBA Championship in 1934. On Sunday, July 15, 2001, the Toronto Blue Jays wore Chatham All-Stars replica jerseys in a game at Shea Stadium against the New York Mets, who wore the jerseys of the New York Cubans. This was a special tribute to the Negro leagues and their contribution to baseball. In 2002, the Blue Jays paid tribute to the All-Stars again by wearing their replica jerseys in a home game on Saturday, July 13 vs Boston. Descendants of some of the All-Stars were featured at the game, with the last two surviving members, Sagasta Harding and Don Tabron, throwing the opening pitch, along with Earl "Flat" Chase’s son, Horace.

Description

This is a pair of grey polyester pants with navy pinstripes. There are two grey buttons and a metal zipper on the fly. The inside of the waistband has a white reinforced elastic lining. The interior back of the waistband has a black patch with the manufacturer "Rawlings" indicated. There is a white patch beside this with black embroidered text reading "29 38 27 01". There are three white flag tags affixed to the interior back seam of the pants. These tags indicate the size, fabric, and care instructions. There are seven polyester belt loops on the waistband. There are two pockets in the reverse of the pants, each with grey and white lining.

Des pantalons gris à rayures fines bleu marine, fabriqués en polyester. Il y a deux boutons gris et une fermeture éclair en métal sur la braguette. Une bande élastique blanche renforcée se trouve à l’intérieur de la ceinture. De l’autre côté, on trouve un écusson noir qui montre le fabricant « Rawlings ». Un écusson blanc est à côté du texte brodé en noir qui dit « 29 38 27 01 ». Trois étiquettes sont attachées à l’intérieur de la couture dorsale. Les numéros indiquent la taille, le tissu et les consignes de lavage. Il y a sept passants de ceinture fabriqués en polyester sur la ceinture. Il y a deux pochettes sur le derrière des pantalons, chacune avec une doublure blanche et grise.
