This is a game-worn, set one, Oakland Athletics 1989 World Series jersey, worn by Dave McKay. McKay was the first base coach for the Oakland Athletics from 1985 - 1995.

The Oakland Athletics won the 1989 World Series against the San Francisco Giants in a four game sweep.

Dave McKay was inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in 2001.

Description

This is a white button-down polyester jersey. There are six pearl-white plastic buttons down the placket. The jersey has green lettering applique with a gold outline on the front and reverse, as well as green lettering applique with no outline on the reverse. The front applique reads "Athletics" in a cursive script and "8" in block numbers. The reverse applique reads "McKay" in the plain green applique at the top, with a large number "8" underneath at the centre, outlined in gold. There is a small green embroidered "Rawlings" on the proper right sleeve, as well as a green, blue, white, and red embroidered "1989 World Series Battle of the Bay" patch affixed above this. The proper left sleeve has a green patch with the Oakland Athletics logo depicting an elephant balancing on a large baseball, and holding a baseball bat with its trunk. The elephant has a gold and green embroidered "A's" blanket on its back. This one sleeve has a black elastic band bordering the edge of the sleeve. The inside left shirt tail has a "Rawlings" patch with the size "46" indicated, as well as care instructions. There is a small white patch with the embroidered letter "T" to the right of the logo, and a small flag tag affixed below this with the text "Set 1 1989".

Un chandail blanc à boutons, fabriqué en polyester. Il a six boutons blancs en plastique sur la platte. Sur les deux côtés, il y a des appliqués verts avec un peu de doré qui trace le contour des appliqués. À l’avant, on trouve le mot « Athletics » avec un numéro « 8 », mais à l’arrière, il y a le nom « McKay » et un gros numéro « 8 ». Sur la manche droite, le mot « Rawlings » est brodé en vert à côté d’un écusson de « 1989 World Series Battle of the Bay » (la Série mondiale de 1989, la bataille de la baie) brodé en vert, bleu, blanc et rouge.
