History |
Jim Fanning was an American-Canadian catcher, manager and first general manager of the Montreal Expos. Fanning was involved with the Expos for over 25 years in a variety of ways between 1969-1984. Fanning was inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in 2000 and received his Canadian citizenship in 2012. He passed in London, Ontario in 2015. This bat was used for promotion of the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame's 2000 Induction Ceremony where Fanning was inducted. The bat was brought to an animal sanctuary where a beaver chewed the barrel. This bat was then used in promotional posters, showing a beaver holding the bat. |

Jim Fanning est un receveur et un gérant américain-canadien. Il est le premier gérant des Expos de Montréal, où de 1969 à 1984, il passe plus de 25 ans de sa vie en plusieurs rôles. En 2000, Fanning est intronisé au Temple de la renommée et musée du baseball canadien. En 2012, il est devenu citoyen canadien. Il est mort en 2015 à London, en Ontario. Ce bâton était un objet de promotion en 2000 lors de la cérémonie d’intronisation du Temple de la renommée et musée du baseball canadien quand Jim Fanning est intronisé. On a apporté ce bâton à un refuge pour animaux quand un castor a rongé le bout. On a mis ce bâton sur des affiches promotionnelles, avec l’image d’un castor qui tient le bâton rongé. |
Description |
This is a brown bat which commemorates Jim Fanning's induction into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame. The bat has bite marks along the barrel where it was chewed by a beaver. The "chewed" area is approximately as thick as the handle. Jim Fanning autographed the barrel in blue marker. The number 9 is engraved on the base of the knob. |

Un bâton de baseball brun qui commémore l’intronisation de Jim Fanning au Temple de la renommée et musée du baseball canadien. Le bâton a des marques de morsure où un castor a rongé le bout. La partie rongée est environ la même longueur que le manche. Jim Fanning a autographié le bout de ce bâton en feutre bleu. Sur le bouton, il y a une gravure du numéro « 9 ». |
